About

The Cricket Association
of Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj

For the cricketers who start on a district ground rather than in an academy. We put the matches on, keep the records straight, and make sure the next step is visible.

Our purpose

Why we exist

Talent in Uttar Pradesh has never been the problem. Opportunity has. A boy in Handia can be the best cricketer for thirty kilometres in any direction and still never bat on a prepared wicket in front of a neutral umpire, because nobody within reach is putting that match on.

The association was formed to close that gap. We run age-group competitions, call open trials, keep the player and District Association records, and back the District Associations already doing good work where they are.

The work, specifically

  • Run competitions. Inter-district and invitational tournaments from Under-14 up to senior, men's and women's.
  • Select in the open. Every trial is announced beforehand with the ground, the date and a reporting time. Anyone eligible can walk in.
  • Keep records. One record per player, with the age verified once. It follows them up through the age groups instead of being rebuilt each season.
  • Support District Associations. Affiliation gives a District Association a way into organised competition rather than leaving it on the outside.
  • Develop players and officials. Coaching camps, match practice, and training for scorers and umpires so games are run to a standard.

What we hold ourselves to

Three promises. Judge us on these rather than on anything else on this page.

Published in advance

Fixtures, trial dates and eligibility rules go up before they matter. A season nobody can plan around isn't really a season.

Open by default

Every eligible registered player can attend a trial. No recommendation letter, and no quiet list of names decided beforehand.

Records that last

Age and identity get checked once and filed properly, so a player's history still stands up years later, when it actually matters.

Governance

How it is run
